The brand Asics was eventually created as the result of one man s desire to create a good basketball shoe. Mr. Onitsuka studied and observed a basketball team in Kobe, Japan during the 1940 s, asking them what they felt was necessary to create the perfect shoe. It wasn t until the 70 s that he joined forces with two other companies to create the Asics brand.Shown here are some shoes from their Spring 2011 lineup that focus on the history of the brand, utilizing some of Japan s finest materials. Embracing HUF s American roots, the shoe channels the US flag in red, white and blue with star print details on the lining. Take for instance the Asics GT Ultra which we don t see often but we definitely wish we did.The retro flavored runner is composed largely of mesh with suede backing it up for durability. Both the suede and mesh used are done largely in Royal Blue save for the Yellow lace plate. The shoe is also trimmed in leather that comes in a similar shade of yellow with a white shadow underneath. A White midsole tops this look off as a definite winner for most under rated sneaker.
